Take Back The City has led to a national day of action across Ireland, with campaigners in Dublin holding a sit-down protest on Dublin's O'Connell Bridge, blocking the centre of the city for several hours.
The campaigners are calling for dramatic improvements to the housing situation in Ireland, which has been sidelined in favour of profit for landlords, causing record numbers to be sleeping on the streets while buildings remain empty.
We face a crucial point as a country - are we going to allow a permanent state of crisis in our housing system - with an entire generations left with unaffordable & insecure housing - never having a real home. Or are we going to radically change housing policy?#takebackthecity— Rory Hearne (@RoryHearne) September 22, 2018

My heart breaks for the homeless mother who said she feels like a failure - she's not! This gov has failed her and her kids. #TakeBackTheCity#RaiseTheRoof#endDP #Oct3rd @pb4p pic.twitter.com/1BOeqSO6d8
